The Master of Time Page 3

"That student have the same uniform as yours," a middle-aged man wearing a white shirt said as he glanced at the young girl in the front passenger seat of his black tinted car.
The girl beside him took a small mirror from her mini bag and stared at her big round eyes.
"So you'll give me what I want, right? I did what you told me to do, you should keep your promise," the man continued as he lit a cigarette in his mouth. "With money, I can do everything. Even if I have to kill."
He puffed and the car was filled with smoke.
“Hey are you listening to me?” The man who was a bit pissed off shook his head.
"I told you to kill the girl. Not the man behind her, " she finally said as the pupils of her eyes started to contract to vertical slits.
"Does it matter who I kill?" the man said nervously, fidgeting in his seat.
"Hmm, well I guess not. A promise is a promise then," she said.
The car was filled with cigarette smoke and the man nodded his head in relief.  From the corner of her eyes, Angel watched the man opened the car's window and puffed smoke again. She clutched the chain strap of her metallic bag with her left hand and gave his neck a long cold stare. She heard her own heart started to pound. Her blood rushed to her head making her feel warm. The tip of her fingers began to tingle and her eyes were about to burst.
“However, it would have been better if that girl was dead,” Angel said looking back at the mirror. “What will you do about it?”
“Dammit!” the man spat out the window. He threw his cigarette, took another one from his pocket and tried to lit it with his shaking hands, “I can kill her if you are not satisfied. J-Just give me some time.”
“No. Your life is enough.”
Finally, the cigarette was lit.  “I said, give me some time..” the man said turning his head towards her.
“The problem is, I don’t have time. But don't worry, I'm giving your money.” Angel returned the mirror inside his soho leather bag and continued, "Oh, and also.." she turned to face him, "a free trip to hell."
The man froze and his cigarette fell out of his mouth. Before he could speak, he realized that the chain strap of Angel’s bag was  already  wrapped around his neck.
“You know that a little disobedience deserves a little punishment, right?” Angel whispered to his ears. “And yet, this disobedient child still craves for a reward? Don’t make me laugh, fool!”
The guy struggled and gasped for breath, but his whole body was numb and his mind was filled with confusion. It must be the girl’s piercing eyes that filled his soul with terror. Now he realized he was about to die in her hands. Slowly, oxygen failed to travel to his brain as he clutched on the chain strap around his neck. When he was about to lost consciousness, he saw Angel’s lips turned into a smirk.
Finally, the man stopped breathing and Angel removed the strap around his neck. "Father as promised, I offer this soul to you."
The lit cigarette which fell from the man's mouth had started to burn his jeans. Angel took the lighter from his shirt’s pocket and started to play with it. The little sparks it created looked wonderfully perfect and made her heart quiver. When she got off the car, the spark she made had turned into a huge fire- burning the driver’s seat together with the scattered peso bills.
The wind blew and brought chills on Angel’s face. When she looked up, stratus clouds started to appear in the sky as it whispered, “a time to die, a time to pluck what is planted, a time to kill, a time to tear down, a time to weep, a time to mourn, and a time to scatter stones…”
